Today there are approximately 41 million immigrants in America. They represent 13.1% of the U.S. population. The U.S. born or second-generation immigrants amount to about 37.1 million or 12% of the total population. Therefore, the two generations combined play a vital role in American society. Some people believe that immigrants negatively affect the nation. others see them as a product of the American dream as they come to the "land of opportunity." But I think that immigrants bring forth positive and constructive changes that America can benefit from.
