Design Brief-
Requirement of the brief- In this report I have been asked to develop some 2D and 3D
graphics to advertise Creative Director’s latest app. This app will be a new video and
messaging service. As a part of digital advertising, I will also have to design, develop and
create a user interface for the app as well as a 3D model of a phone. Furthermore, I will
design the app by researching different other apps, I will do some market research, legal and
ethical consideration, what are the hardware and software requirements, what are the editing
requirements, user experience etc. I also made a gantt chart to help me with my timing.
When developing the app, I will be including the use of screenshots to show my evidence of
my app and testing. In addition to this I will create a few versions of the app to help me
decide which one will work best for the target audience and meet the client requirements. I
will also gather some feedback from people e.g I will ask at least two other people to help
me identify improvements to the graphics I made. Afterwards, based on the feedback
received, I will make any improvements on my apps to optimise and to ensure it works
expectedly. Once I have designed and developed my app and the poster, I will evaluate the
effectiveness of the graphic processing and techniques chosen as part of the design and
their impact on the final products. And lastly I will evaluate the development process giving
reasoned justifications for my choices and why changes were made.
Purpose- I have been asked to design and develop a concept and user interface for an app
as well as a 3D model of a phone for use in digital advertisements such as a poster. And the
purpose of this app is to provide an opportunity for 15-20 years olds to try new apps that
they might be interested in. From this they will be able to text, video or audio call, voice
messages, and see location and the conversation will be private and safe. And the purpose
of the poster is to capture audience attention with a message also it allows me to announce
and promote my app.
Target audience- The target audience for this app I’m creating will be aimed for 15-20 years
old mostly females that are interested in using the new app, they might be interested in
trying new photo and video sharing, private, new texting apps. I have chosen this audience
due to being in the age bracket myself. My app has some similarities to apps most
commonly used by teens, as I'm always interested in trying new ones. I want to market the
app and hopefully make it by tapping into the demographics of the audience.
Client Requirements- Creative Director wanted me to make a user interface app and 3D
model of a phone for use in the digital advertisement. I will be developing and the
requirements for this will include-
● Be attractive and pleasing to the eye.
● Use suitable colours
● The font should be easier to read
● Easy to use

● Access to all device specific features such as Gps, Camera and notifications

● Whatsapp imports all the contacts of the phone automatically and provides
information about who all in your contacts are using the whatsapp application.
● Options to hide some people from viewing your status
● Can view who viewed your status
● Can select who can view your status
Weaknesses
● You can create a WhatsApp group with up to 256 participants only
● Whatsapp group call up to 8 people, maybe there were more than 8 people wants to
join but they can’t
How will this influence your design?
● My apps won’t have any ads, as whatsapp doesn’t have any ads which is really good
and people may find it annoying if ads appears every time
● Also whatsapp navigation bars are easy anyone can use it my design will also have
easy navigation bar
● Available on all platforms
● My app will let as many people they wants on a group
Instagram-

● Share photos and videos
● Easily discoverable
● Allow to text, calls
● Public and private
● Least annoying ads
● You can comment, like on a picture.
● Has several filters to take pictures or videos

● My apps design will be private to avoid from people commenting bad things
● It will also have several filters to take pictures or videos, which people loves to that
● Instagram colour palette is really good multiple colours so I will design my apps
colour palette with multiple colours
● Instagram logo fonts- Its look type in a handwritten script. I will design my logo font
something similar
Snapchat-
Strengths
● Helps the user to take the picture easily and share them
● Mobile ready design
● Can view other peoples location
● Messaging, calls service
● Different features

● People can see if you screenshot something
How will this influence your design?
● Snapchat maps- Can view the peoples location-
● My app will also have mobile ready design
● Everything will be private; you can screenshot anything without the other person
knowing.
Visual themes and aesthetics-
Firstly I started with doing some research about some apps, then I got some
inspiration from them. And then I did some research for fonts and colours.
Colour palate-
Apps-
I picked this colour for my Apps. It’s Analogous structure.
Analogous structures do not create themes with high
contrasting colours, so they're typically used to create a softer,
less contrasting design. I think this would be suitable for my
apps as it's a light colour and not in high contrast.

colour people will be able to read the text and it will stand out.

Poster-
This colour pallette would be ideal for my app. It uses a combination of dark
and bright colours, meaning that important elements would stand out. The
main colour would be dark green with other colours text and graphic elements.
It’s suitable for my target audience and purpose because dark colour will
stand out more as light colour will be in the background.
Fonts-
This colour would be suitable for the font colour as it's a light colour and
stands out. People will be able to read it easily.
