Nelson Makamo is a contemporary
South African artist known for his
captivating and emotive portraits. Born
in 1982 in the small town of Modimolle
in Limpopo Province, South Africa,
Makamo showed an early interest in art.
Growing up, he was inspired by the
vibrant street life and the people he
encountered in his community.
Makamo's artistic journey began during
his high school years when he attended
the Artist Proof Studio in Johannesburg.
This experience allowed him to develop
his skills and gain a deeper
understanding of art. Following his time
at Artist Proof Studio, Makamo studied
at the Pretoria Technikon, where he
