US History I Unit 2 Challenge 2
US History I Unit 2 Challenge 2 My name is Benjamin Wallace. I live in Boston, Massachusetts, in the year 1790. Nearing my sixtieth year, I ama printer and newspaperman by trade. I was today interviewed by a young man curious about history. Our conversation turned to the French and Indian War. As I was a young man when it happened, I recounted how, in an attempt to reduce colonial smuggling, the British had lowered taxes on a valuable import. I found myself quite indignant as I recalled the aftermath of that war. The speaker is referring to the (A) Sugar Act when he explains what the British did to reduce the illegal importation of goods by the colonies in the immediate aftermath of the French and Indian War. Once I started talking, it was difficult to stop. I continued to fill the young man’s ears with the actions of Parliament and the King against our colonies after their victory over the French. I remembered well the chaos and uncertainty that engulfed our lives. The end of the French and Indian War marked a turning point for colonial relations with the British Empire. Choose Yes if the action contributed to instability in the colonies after the war. Choose No if it did not. = Correct Answer = Incorrect Answer Both Native Americans and British colonists considered the other an enemy that must be vanquished. ●
