1. What would you say to those who believe Africa lacks expertise in responding to
pandemics? (200 words) 5 Marks
It is not accurate to say that Africa lacks expertise in responding to pandemics. Throughout
history, African countries have dealt with outbreaks of various diseases, including Ebola,
HIV/AIDS, and cholera, among others. Many African countries have developed strong public
health systems and have experience in responding to infectious disease outbreaks.
In fact, during the COVID-19 pandemic, many African countries have been praised for their
swift and effective response to the crisis. Some of these countries have implemented
measures such as widespread testing, contact tracing, and community engagement, which
have helped to slow the spread of the virus.
It is important to recognize the expertise and capabilities of African public health officials and
healthcare workers in responding to pandemics. Rather than perpetuating harmful
stereotypes, we should work towards supporting and strengthening healthcare systems in
Africa to better respond to current and future health crises.
2. What is the importance of conducting due diligence? (200 words) 5 Marks
Conducting due diligence is essential for businesses and organizations to ensure that they
make informed decisions before entering into any kind of agreement or transaction. Due
diligence involves a comprehensive and objective investigation of the relevant aspects of the
deal, such as financial, legal, and operational aspects, among others.
The importance of conducting due diligence includes:
