Module Code : OPM1501
Assignment No : 03
Due Date : 05/08/21
, 1. Standard units’ goals of measurement.
To make estimates in terms of units and meaningfully interpret measures
represented with standard units. Standard units of measurements can be organised
around three broad goals namely:
Familiarity with the unit
Ability to select appropriate unit
Knowledge of relationships between units
2. The role of estimation in the development of measurement concepts
This refers to the picture that a person has in their minds and uses that picture to
make measurement as well as the visual information that we use in measuring an
object or maybe comparing them without any use of measuring instrument.
3. The difference between perimeter and area
Perimeter
Is the length of the boundary of a shape or the distance around the shape.
Area
Is the measure of two-dimensional space within a closed shape.
4. Activity 8.7
Perimeter= I counted 58 units
Perimeter of rectangle A and B
Area of a rectangle A and B
= 15 x 6 =90
= 8 x 5= 40
= 40 + 90 = 130 square meters
