Scope of Business Activity – Local, National and International
Local -> A local Business is one that is owned locally and operates in the local area. For Example,
mobile hairdresser, gardeners, village shop and a local pub. A local council office, whilst being
part of a much larger organization provides a service to the local area.
National -> A number of large organizations, may be a franchise.
International -> An international business trades in overseas countries. The development of the
internet had made it easier to trade overseas, to sell their products and or services.
Size of a Business
Micro -> up to 9 employees
Small -> 10 - 49 employees
Medium -> 50 – 249 employees
Large -> more than 250 employees
