This paper will compare different articles that were chosen to support my change project proposal. My research question for this project is aimed toward patients who are at risk for catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) within an acute care setting, will implementing a nurse-driven protocol help decrease the incidence of catheter-associated urinary tract infection compared to patients who have not had nurse-driven protocols used in their course of care in the progress of five months? This nurse-driven protocol will be proposed of assessment tools and nursing interventions. First, a proper and in detail Foley catheter needs assessment for the patient. Second adequate Foley catheter care using CHG wipes that are accepted by the organization, Third timely removal of Foley catheter when it is no longer indicated. This means removing the catheter as soon as possible without a physician’s order, and lastly proper Foley maintenance including no dependent loops, stat lock in place, and bag below bed level. Each article is different and covers each intervention for the use of the project being presented.
