ANNOTATED BIBILOGRAPHY Introduction: Overcoming the digital divide is something all citizens should be concerned about. This is an inequality issue that effects millions of people. This divide is slowly widening and creating gaps between countries. The term “Digital Divide” is the economic and social status of people in society separated by those who have access to technological social systems versus those who have limited digital resources. FCC Chair Julius Genachowski in 2010 said “if you can’t get online, you can’t compete in the digital economy” (InformationWeek Government, 2010, p. 1). Without countries intervening and promoting broader access to technology this gap will continue to grow and global boundaries will remain. Providing the means for disadvantaged groups to access this technology is obvious the tricky part. By governments and private entities collaborating to overcome this divide this problem can be addressed.
