HSM541 Health Services Systems Course Project
Abstract
Healthcare systems around the globe have undergone significant changes during the past few decades. Current research has presented a comparative analysis of the health care systems of the US & England. It has been found that the British healthcare system is better than that of America in every respect. The present study has compared different healthcare designs of US health care system & British NHS. Both healthcare systems neither have common institutional design or policy history; nor a common set of values of their foundations. The most significant different is that the health care system in the UK is market oriented, while that of the US is governed by the public sector.
Introduction
Health care system has close relationship with quality of life of human beings. Health care systems of the USA & England are quite different. The health care & insurance system of the US is commercial & market oriented, except Medicaid & Medicare under the health care services of Social Security Act for low income & aging people. The centre for state Operation
& Medicare, & the Centre for Beneficiary choices are responsible for delivering & monitoring the services. On the other hand, the National Health Service of the UK is government funded medical service. The public sector of the country is responsible for the medical services in the country. The Department of Health & the Secretary of State for Health
(SoS) are centres of policy planning; & responsibility of health policy implication is imposed on Strategic Health Authority, NHS Executive, & Primary Care Trust (Kuo, n. d). Thesis Statement
