What is Codependence?
A multidimensional (physical, mental, emotional and
spiritual) condition manifested by any suffering and
dysfunction that is associated with or due to focusing
on the needs and behavior of others (Whitefield 1987,
1990).
A co-dependent person is one who has let another
person’s behavior affect him or her, and who is obsessed
with controlling that person’s behavior (Beattie, 1992).
About Codependency
Codependency is the most common addiction- the
addiction to looking outside of our true selves to
find happiness.
What runs them is twofold:
(1) a sense of shame that our TRUE SELF is somehow
defective or inadequate
(2) the addiction, compulsion or disorder becomes the
manifestation of the erroneous notion that something
outside ourselves can make us happy and fulfilled.
Where does it come from?
