When we look at Phyco-social factors we begin to understand that there are many
factors that can contribute to learners lack in academic performance and the risk
that an unsuitable environment can have on the learners, that is why we as student
teacher should be able to identify these phyco-social factors and help prevent
them.
Motivation
Motivation is a very big part in the development of a person it helps you grow
interests, set goals and develop talents that will lead to therther developing as a
person, if there is a lack of motivation in students they will have no drive, nor will
they have a goal that they will work to achieve. That lack of motivation will cause
there academic performance to decrease which in hindsight will then cause them
to be more demotivated then when they started causing them to give up on
achieving good grades.
Stress
Stress caused by the incresed amount of work at school or changes in there
personal lifestyle can cause students affectiveness at school to decrease
completely which will lead to poor academic performance which entail will cause
them to stress even more about them not acieving there preferred marks.
Anxiety and depression
Anxiety and depression are two of the most common and difficult obstacles that
students will need to face, this can cause students to act in unpredictable ways
such as neglecting their hygiene and poor self care wich will lead to other students
not wanting to be friends with them, that can also lead to them being bullied which
in some cases can cause the student to have self harming tendencies.
Self - efficacy
Self - efficacy is the way you view your own capacity to perform or the way you
feel you need to behave, if there is no self-efficacy you will not be interested in
behaving in the right way you will seek attention from the other learners causing
you to not focus on your school work but on disturbing your fellow class mates.
Satisfaction
Satisfaction or lack of satisfaction in a student will have a big outcome on the
students academic and social performance, we as humans are created to want to
please people but even more so to please people just to get the satisfaction or
acknowledgement that we did something good, if there is a lack of satistaction or
lack of fulfilment after a student has completed a task this will cause them to not
want to do that same task again, in this case that will be to not achieve any new
academic goals.
