DEFORESTATION
The degradation of forest areas is frequently determined by the
unsustainable use of forest resources. In several areas, mainly
temperate climates, the extraction of products is much higher than the
capacity of the forest to regenerate them. Such overexploitation usually
results in the fragmentation and degradation of the resource, the first
stages in the deforestation process.
The process of degradation of resources until
reaching the deforestation of a natural area, is
mainly defined by a vicious circle between
degradation of forest resources and rural poverty.
The problem of deforestation is particularly
aggravated in the jungles, while forests in mountain
areas and in arid and semi-arid regions are mainly
affected by degradation, which in the end is only a
stage prior to deforestation. The problem is also
observed with greater intensity in forest areas that
are not under systematic management or where
non-timber or non-traditional uses are very scarce,
frequently including Protected Natural Areas (ANP)
.In all cases the dynamics of change of Land use in
recent years has followed a pattern that favors the
growth of cultivated areas, as well as induced and
cultivated grasslands on forest areas.
Proposals
There are many solutions for reforestation, since thanks to the NGOs
that do a great job to bring life back to deforested forests, externally, we
can help contribute to their great actions, and apply care techniques and
the three R's to aggravate situation that today is quite alarming.
