Unwind - Chapter 1 to 5 - Summary
Connor, a teenager of 16 years old is about to be unwound by his own parents, because he wasn’t as
good as he should at school and also because he wasn’t the most promising in his family. Not
accepting his own destiny, he decides to go off with his girlfriend, but she refused when he was about
to leave definitely. Despite this event, he continued on his way without looking behind and with a lot
of chance, he met a trucker who accepted to drive him while allowing him to survive longer. The next
day, he was found by the police, because he had been tracked because of his phone and by doing a
split-second decision and bolted across the highway until a Cadillac was on his path, but he succeed to
avoid it. The car stopped abruptly. Conor saw someone looking at him from a window of the backseat
of the Cadillac. The police was still getting closer to Connor, so he took a fast decision, raced to the
car and opened the door.
Risa waits in backstage waiting for her turn at the piano for the recital. She is an excellent pianist and
her own teacher Mr. Durkin has confidence in her, but when it is her turn, she started to make couple
of mistakes that are reverberating in her head. Despite her excellent performance, however not
perfect, she was met by people telling her that she was going to be unwounded because as a state
agent, her results were not satisfying enough. Being in a bus to be drove to the camp for unwound
children, she took profit of a sudden braking of the driver to avoid two kids on the highway. The bus
leaned sideways and she escaped through the main door.
Lev is now 13 years old, because it is the day of his bar-mitzvah, but this day supposed to be full
rejoicing and fun turned bad when his brother Marcus looking at first time drunk, because he seemed
destabilized was in fact totally aware of what’s going on, because he knew his brother was about to be
unwound. Even if he was his family pride and an intelligent boy, his destiny couldn’t change, because
as Pastor Dan said, his life was destined to serve God and mankind before his birth. After his
discussion with Pastor Dan and the breakfast, it was the time for the goodbyes and he went in his
Dad’s Cadillac and he tried to not look back. On their way to go to the harvest camp, his father
abruptly slams on the brakes. A bit stunned by the brutality of the braking, he opens his eyes after a
while and the first thing he heard was a gunshot. Then, he looked outside, and there was a kid looking
dangerous reaching him. He suddenly pulled Lev out of the car. This other kid was Connor and tried
to take Lev as an hostage and as a human shield at the same time, but Lev clearly understood Connor
had no gun on him. When he saw that Connor was distracted by a girl stepping out of a bus they avoid
earlier, he bit Connor's arm to let him go and he ran off into the forest, but he was hit by a
tranquilizing bullet and fall down on the ground. After recovering from the bite he had just
