ENC 1101 MLA Library Report
Overview For this assignment, please complete and upload the MLA Library Report. Task Here is what you need to do for the assignment: Look over the potential topics for the Argumentative Essay that you will write in a few weeks. Using library databases, search for a source that talks about the topic you chose and that shares your views (stance) of the issue. The source may not necessarily agree with your stance completely, but it should contain information that provides background, context, or further explanation of the global issue. Once you have found your source, read it closely. Choose a short enough article that you can read quickly and it not consume all of your time. Citation: Please cite the source in MLA format 9th edition. Try using this link to help you cite it: (Links to an external site.) Summary: Type a summary of the article in a minimum of 3-4 sentences. Your summary should be organized and cover key points contained within the original source. Remember that a summary condenses information and uses paraphrasing to do so. There should not be any quotes in the summary. There should be no analysis, opinion, or discussion by you in this section of the summary. Do not write about the author. Simply write as though you are the author condensing and rearranging the words. There should be no quoting in the summary. Evaluation/Assessment of Source: After your summary, write a paragraph (minimum 3-4 sentences) that evaluates the source. Essentially, explain here why you think this source is credible. Reflection of the Source’s Viability: After you have proved that the source is credible, write a paragraph (3-4 sentence minimum) that explains how the source can be used to support your opinion of the topic. Maybe the source agrees with you and provides a study with statistics. Maybe the source agrees with you and has first hand accounts that support it's claims. Format: MLA
