Lab #10 Neurological Disorders Suggested Activities:
Lab Activities (in Lab, but please note there is no mannequin for this lab)
1. Prior to lab
o students will complete the weekly readings and come to the class/participate in
activites
o complete Medication Research for Ativan 4 mg IV, Diastat 10 mg pr, Phenytoin
15 mg/kg IV (not to exceed 50 mg/min, and Phenobarbital 100 mg IV
2. In lab
o View the 3 brief vimeos of differing seizures **Inform students that the lab will
virtually show patient actors having a seizure.
o Show and Tell oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal airways
o Seizure Unfolding Case Study (Faculty-led)
Work through the case. Answers have been provided
Phase 0 Students will work in pairs for the completion of a full
Neurovascular Assessment, including cranial nerves
Phase 1 Students will work in pairs to complete a Neurological Recheck
and the Glasgow Coma Scale
Discussion Questions throughout
o Time permitting: Optional activities include Extra GCS Practice Scenarios and
Jeopardy Game, create Mind Maps or Nursing Care Plans for the disorders
covered this week
