Assignment 2: Study Plan
Comprehensive preparation and planning for the national exam are crucial in improving the
chances of passing the exam. In preparing the study plan this quarter, a review of the week two results
will be done. Analyzing the strengths and areas of opportunity will be crucial to ensure proper preparation
for the national exam. Notably, the review course materials offer a chance to allocate considerable time to
the areas that require improvement. The purpose of this assignment is to review the week two results and
identify the areas of strengths and weaknesses. Additionally, a comprehensive study plan will be
formulated to help in preparing for the national certification exam. Nonetheless, a description of the
appropriate resources required for accomplishing the goals and tasks will be presented.
Strengths and Opportunities for Improvement Analysis
The week two practice test question results and the consideration of the national certification
exam revealed several strengths and weaknesses that can be improved. Notably, the areas of strength
include the areas I feel that my knowledge base is refined and secured. The week two exam revealed that
there are areas of the course where my knowledge base is high and, as such, requires little reviewing of
the course content to refresh the memory. In planning for the certification exam, I feel that some of the
areas in which my knowledge base is secure include advanced pathophysiology and theories of individual
and family psychotherapy diagnostic reasoning for the PMHNP. I am confident that my knowledge base
is secure, including applying evidence in healthcare environments, leading collaborative change, and
population-based mental health care across the lifespan. Additionally, I would also require less reviewing
time to refresh the memory on the practicum in psychiatric mental health nursing with individuals,
groups, and families.
However, in preparing for the national exam, I feel that there are areas where my knowledge base
requires expansion. As such, such areas of the program form weaknesses and thus present opportunities
for improvement. It is important to note that the study plan should allocate more time for the areas of
improvement as compared to the areas that require little reviewing before the exam. Notably, I feel that I
need to work more on the area of advanced health assessment and clinical reasoning lab. Additionally, I
