Explain how internet marketing has made a selected business more
efficient, effective and successful – P5
Introduction
Within this document I will be explaining how Tesco has become more successful,
efficient and effective in the modern era through the use of internet marketing. I
will also be explain how internet marketing benefits for Tesco financially. The
increasing availability of the web gives Tesco all kinds of opportunities to speed
up their interaction between their customers and their suppliers
Efficiencies
Businesses such as Tesco, have many suppliers which give them all sorts of
materials and products so that Tesco can buy for cheap so they can make profit
from the products they get from their suppliers. Tesco always have efficient
supply chains for their all of their branches worldwide. The internet allows Tesco
to manage all of their supply chains. Tesco put all of their suppliers on their
website so that their customers can get a better insight on what their suppliers
produce and how they do it. This information on Tesco’s website is vital for
people that are curious about where Tesco products come from and how much
they pay to get the products for their organisation. The internet also allows fair
trading between suppliers and organisations such as Tesco. The internet has
allowed Tesco to reduce staff costs, because people can just search online now if
they need help with anything regarding Tesco.
Effectiveness
The internet allows companies Tesco to advertise on their website so everyone in
the UK will see it, however back before the internet, Tesco had to make posters,
which took a long time and was very costly to do. With the internet all you have
to do is one click and then the advertisement is there on the website for
everyone to see around the UK. Internet marketing every year, is getting more
popular year by year due to the increasing number of people that are connected
to the internet. Tesco’s website grows every year with more and more people
wanted to buy their shopping online due to our day to day lives getting busier
and busier. Today, phones are smarter than ever, and can do things that we
could only have dreamed of back in the 90s but in this generation today, a lot
more people know how to use smartphones so the number of online shopping
transactions are growing in numbers, therefore making Tesco get more profit
every year.
Online Promotion
There are many ways that Tesco can use the internet to advertise certain
products. When a user clicks on Tesco’s website they will be ask to accept their
cookies for the website. This is because Tesco can now track what kind of
products each user likes, so now they can target them. If a user recently visited
Tesco’s website, then for example if they went google and search for something,
they will see products that they are interested in so that it might sway them back
to Tesco’s website so they can buy the product. In my opinion, this is a great
technique by any company in the internet marketing sector because it allows
them to put every single one of their visitors in a target group so that they can
always make them come back to theuir website to get the product that they like.
