∞ Recruitment
Recruitment is the process of searching and hiring individuals to perform or do
a specific job. This can either be done internally (within the organization) or
externally (outside the organization). Recruitment is used to fill vacancies
within an organization that can be cause by many reasons such as; resignation,
recruitment, dismissal of an employee, maternity/paternity leave, sick leave, etc.
The recruitment process can be lengthy depending on the job position to be
filled (persons must have the necessary qualifications, skills, knowledge and
experience to do the job), or where you are hiring from (internal or external).
The recruitment process:
1. Analysing the job vacancy and the requirements needed for the job.
2. Sourcing - getting the attention of possible candidate through advertising.
3. Screening and selection- short listing for possible candidates who has the
qualification, skills, knowledge, experience, etc. required to the job
versus those who may not have all but a few or the important ones.
4. Interviewing- conversing with potential employees to get a more physical
interaction to examine how they act in person and other aspects.
5. Hiring- choosing a candidate to the job for they are the best option for the
job.
The Board of Directors at Vodafone would recruit new members who can fill
the positions on the board and meet the requirements. They can do this by
searching outside the organization for new candidates and also looking within
the organization as well. The team that they have now, had to go through this
process to ensure that the right candidates were chosen for the job to ensure
effective an efficient performance within the team and the business.
