, Question 1
1.1 Two Protocols:
- TCP (Transmission Control Protocol)
- UDP (User Datagram Protocol)
Transport-layer protocols add control information in an area at the
beginning of the payload called the header to create a message ready to be
handed down to the network layer. The process of adding a header to the
data inherited from the layer above is called encapsulation.
1.2 The network layer header identifies the sending and receiving hosts by
their IP addresses.
1.3 Utilities that provide services to the system, such as SNMP (Simple
Network Management Protocol) programs that monitor and gather
information about network traffic and can alert network administrators
about adverse conditions that need attention
1.4 Physical Layer
1.5 Frame
Question 2
2.1 A Rack System
2.2 Horizontal Cabling
2.3 Doing so increases the possibility of transmission interference between
wires, a phenomenon called crosstalk .
Question 3
3.1 A time limit, called a lease time , which restricts the amount of time a
network host can keep the IP address before it must request a renewal
3.2 mycompany.com
3.3 5061
3.4 ifconfig -a
