Globalisation: refers to the availability of a product

Developments in digital forms of communication in a global
society:
digital revolution = a movement from analogue to digital/technological communication. {Pountey -
'apps' - helps communicate}

global village = McLuhan - giant central nervous system which connects everybody in the world
together as one big super culture

networked global society = Marxist - Castells -western societies moving towards a late modern
period of capitalism where the main source is information . The emergence of technology and
culture is easy available and communications and information are organized horizontally rather than
vertically as in the past it was only available to the elites

media convergence = refers to information being delivered immediately across a range of different
platforms in different formats which can be accessed from one device.
