Plan (story) :
- Tired traveller sees the castle and is at the foot of it
- Falls at the end just before he reaches the top
- Life flashes before eyes, cliff hanger
Tired, exhausted, breathless I clambered up the rocky road in desperation to reach the extravagant
entrance of the kings castle. Blisters under my feet, my body begged for mercy, as I pushed myself
far past what would be considered ‘breaking point’. No time to stop, no time to hinder, the deep
royal sapphire’s above me were beginning to swirl into a dark sort of presence, desperately warning
me of the danger that was to come. Beneath me, the earth seemed to crumble, rocks flaked off into
miniscule specs, snowing onto the plethora of greenery, as if it were Christmas all over again. It must
have been a few hours till the entirety of the carefully carved door became visible to me, but it felt
like an absolute century.
Overwhelmed with excitement, I paused to admire its beauty, forgetting for a second that I was five
hundred feet up in the air.
Rookie mistake.
My smile and satisfaction were suddenly and violently snatched away from me as I tried clenching
onto anything that wasn’t thin air. Fail.
It was as if I had pressed the ‘zoom out’ button on my camera, except it didn’t stop. The intricacy of
the details that I could see just a few seconds prior became a massive blur as I tumbled down the
very route I had clambered up. Except then I had the energy to do something, whereas now my flesh
ached for mercy, and although I wanted to stop, I was helpless…
I was picking up speed now. Bits of loose rock scrapped my delicate, dirty, dishevelled skin, as I
tumbled down with no hope of safety.
The end was near.
