1- What kind of labels are listed here? Why?
The posters on the Columbia University Earth Institute website are those
provided to many companies that have contributed to the support and
protection of biodiversity listed in the Code and are the most reliable and
more than 400 environmental brands available globally in 2010, helping
customers to familiarate customers with the product produced that has no
negative impact on the environment.
2- How do your consumer (buying) choices affect biodiversity?
Customer choices will go a long way in influencing biodiversity based on
purchased products that are geared towards companies that prefer their
environmental production methods. I think that for customers familiar with
the environment in question and the various challenges posed by
companies, they enjoy the negative ratings they have experienced from the
press in the current years because of the unethical production habits that
have damaged biodiversity, certainly, the demand for their products will be
significantly reduced.
3- Pick one of these methods that you feel would be usable in YOUR
city/village/town. How? Explain.
In the city where I live, I think the best way you can work is the international
fair trade system is the way it will work best in my city, where it provides the
way and supports farmers and promotes the processing of their products,
the dominant agricultural market was foreign companies or private
companies and not government companies and simple slander through
international fair trade.
4-One or two sentences or your own personal reflection on something you
learned this week.
I have a good background on the impact of carbon, material and emissions
through my specialty (health sciences) where biology is an essential
material for us and talks about the environment and its role, but especially in
this week's missions I benefited a lot from the research from the point of
view of the environment and biological change,
I also learned this week that the most thing I can help with is that the best I
can do for my environment is to start myself first.
How is the class going so far for you?
I've really benefited from the science I've learned so much, but the problem
is how I can apply this science to the ground and the people around me and
improve my environment, which is new information and a little difficult to
address at once.
