The Advanced Practice Nurse Professional Development Plan The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is a Master’s degree prepared nurse who has the opportunity to explore different roles. As an APN it is important to utilize knowledge learned from the educational program to develop a professional plan. The professional development plan (PDP) should consist of education, licensure, accreditation and certification according to the state in which the APN will practice. This paper will discuss the scope of practice of the APN according to the state of Maryland.
