Identify two strategies you can implement to provide comfort to maintain function with an ethnically diverse older adult with a chronic disease? This can be nutrition, ADLs, exercise, etc. Chronic diseases such as heart disease is the number one cause of death among Hispanics, African Americans, Native Americans and Alaskan Native older adults. In the Asian or Pacific Islander, heart disease is second only to cancer (Miller, 2019). Heart disease has modifiable risk factors which include high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, unhealthy nutrition and inactivity (Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion [ODPHP], 2020). Two different strategies that can be implemented would be teaching culturally diverse older adults with heart disease about healthy nutrition and the benefits of adequate physical activity. It would be helpful to focus on specific races previously mentioned in which heart disease is more prevalent
