In-class activity – Friday 8 January 2021
Full Name Student: Bram Hezemans
Student ID number: 2713689
Instructions
You will be randomly assigned to a team (max 5 students) to work on the in-class activity.
Therefore, you are allowed to have similar answers, BUT you are required to write your own
answers on this sheet and submit it on Canvas before 6.30 pm on the same day. Therefore,
your submission can never be 100% identical to the submission of another student. Make sure
to build a strong argument for each answer with a source (APA- Style Referencing). Your
tutor can ask you to share your screen and input with others, please do participate as engaging
in discussions is part of this in-class activity. Good luck!
Part 1 – 1 ) The lecturer explained how you formulate hypotheses and create a research
model. Please follow the six steps discussed during the lecture and formulate a
hypothesis and create a research model for the following explanatory research question:
What is the relationship between attitude and learning behavior for students? Note, the
theory of planned behavior can be used to formulate the hypothesis. But you are also
allowed to use other relevant theories.
1. What is the theory of planned behavior suggesting?
The theory of planned behavior suggests that intention is the most important factor for
behavior and that intention is influenced by attitude, subjective norm and perceived
behavioral control. (Baroudi, 2021)
2. What is an attitude?
An attitude is a psychological tendency that is expressed by evaluating a particular
entity with some agree of favour or disfavour. (Alice H. Eagly, 1954).
3. What is learning behavior?
Learning behavior consists of activities caried out by individuals through which they
obtain and process data that allow them to adapt and improve. Examples of learning
behavior are seeking feedback, sharing information, asking for help, talking about
errors, and experimenting. (Edmondson, 1999)
4. What does the theory of planned behavior suggest?
The theory of planned behavior suggests that a positive learning attitude results in an
overall positive learning behavior.
5. What are current research findings showing about the relationship between
student attitude and learning behavior?
Student attitude can be a powerful influence on learning behavior. (Demei Shen a,
2013) (Bandura, 1993)
6. What is the hypotheses?
The relationship between attitude and learning behavior is a positive relationship.
