I was today interviewed by a young man curious about history. Our conversation turned to the French and Indian War. As I was a young man when it happened, I recounted how, in an attempt to reduce colonial smuggling, the British had lowered taxes on a valuable import. I found myself quite indignant as I recalled the aftermath of that war.
