, Introduction
This assignment will be focusing on applying theoretical and conceptual psychology to a case
study of Paul, Mary and Simon. An ecomap and genogram of the family will be drawn. This
assignment will also look into the developmental frameworks of the family, where the stages of
the family cycle, stages of marriage and psychological developmental stages will be discussed.
The main purpose of the assignment is to look into how a psychologist from the First Order
Cybernetics (FOC) will apply their principles to the case and also compare to the Second Order
Cybernetics (SOC) perspective, looking at how the therapist will approach the case.
