There is a long time history of the rabbits and I tell you something about
it. The first people that caught rabbits were the Romans. They liked the
meat and they used the coat to make clothes.
The poor people also had rabbits. The people ate them and of the coat
they made fur clothes. During the war they went breed rabbits because
they did not take much space and they could use them properly.
So the People still have meat , until the year eighteen hundred .they
were not held for fun.
When the second World War had gone they were kept as pets.
De ‘gewone mensen’ (de wat armere mensen) gingen ook konijnen
houden. Het vlees werd gegeten en van de vacht maakten ze
bontjassen. Tijdens de oorlogen werden konijnen veel gefokt, omdat
konijnen weinig plaats innamen en goedkoop aten. Zo hadden de
mensen toch nog vlees in de oorlog. Tot het jaar 1850 werden konijnen
alleen gefokt en gehouden om hun vlees en hun vacht voor de
bontjassen. Ze werden nog niet voor de lol gehouden. Pas na de tweede
wereldoorlog (vanaf het jaar 1945) werden konijnen als huisdier
gehouden
