diversities: social groups differ on the basis of gender, sex, sexuality, ethnicity, culture, religion, age &
(dis)abilities
inequalities: social groups are (un)equally treated in terms of mental health, education and policy
importance
1. clinical: protocols, individual treatment, stereotypes and sensitivity
2. policy/education: equitability of schools, health care system, society
equity = everyone gets the resources to reach the same place
identity: the reflective
social identity: identification with larger groups of people who share characteristics
- belonging to a group is a basic need.
- social identitites are also of importance with regard to health and (mental) health care
disabilit spread: seeing only one aspect of someone's identity (e.g. disability) and generalse that aspect,
in such way that that 'becomes' the entire person.
intersectionality: analytical framework for understanding how various aspects of a person's identity
combine to create different modes of discrimination and privilege.

esteem, depression, substance (ab)use, unsafe seks
-hypothesis:
, - SSA adolescents have lower quality of social network true, also more
depression, low self-esteem. Study did not find anything on lower GPA scores
(other studies did).
- relationship with class mentor might affect adolescents functioning and
well-being.
- average coming out is at 17.

bestaat dit verschil niet. Onstaat tussen 13 tot 15.
Dit verschil ontstaat door verschillende factoren: herhaaldelijke coping,
afhankelijkheid van relaties, hormonen, ontevredenheid lichaam, cognitieve
kwetsbaarheid, negatieve levenservaringen, seksueel misbruik.
Depressie kan zorgen voor meer negatieve ervaringen doordat een persoon
aandacht bij de verkeerden zoekt.
Deelnemers hoog in cognitieve kwetsbaarheid met meer stressvolle
levenservaringen hebben een verhoogde kans op depressie.
Studies slagen niet bij cijfers voor 11 cognitieve stijl niet niet vast
Er zitten 3 componenten in het model: genetische invloeden, hormonen in de
puberteit, en puberale timing. Sociale factoren en negatieve
levensgebeurtenissen die werken met de kwetsbaarheden die in een sociale
en interpersoonlijke vorm komen.

Examples of health differences:
Seks à women more depressed, less autistic, less addiction, less special education and more
panic disorders
Homoseksuals à more depressed, more suicide (attempts), less good health, more addiction
Class à people form lower class live about 6 years shorter, 20 years less in good health
Etnicity à due to family factors (raising and function of family), SES and health of the child are
children of marrocan, surinam-hindustan or turkish background a lower health score when
looked at european or surinam-creole children
Er zijn verschillen in representatie in de mentale gezondheidszorg, dit kan komen door de situatie waarin
verschillende etniciteiten zich verkeren/verkeerden (oorlog, onstabiele gezinnen, lage SES), of de juiste
weg naar de mentale zorg gevonden kan worden en hoe de cultuur kijkt naar europese mentale zorg.
