In this section of the report I will be analysing the results of the process and how my skills development
will contribute to my future success during a recruitment and selection process. I will explain 3 benefits
of the development plan, I will also explain three benefits of having a clear understanding of my
strengths and weaknesses as interviewee and an interviewer and how it will help me in the future.
A benefit of a development plan is that it acts as a road map for me which helps to support my career
and personal development. It helps the me identify key roles and grow its talent to fill skills gaps 1 making
them my strengths and helping me represent myself well in an interview. Another benefits of skills
development plan is that it leads to more effective and faster achievements 2 due to gaining a clear
focus3 on what to improve and how. It also motivates me to improve the development skills before a
deadline to ensure I am ready for an interview beforehand. The third benefit of the development plan is
that it would give me a better understanding of my weaknesses and how to improve my performance.
This will help me to not repeat the weaknesses but instead improve them before my next interview
therefore converting them into strengths and improving the process of recruitment and selection.
However, having a development plan can cause pressure on me due to having a deadline. This would
make me less motivated therefore not enabling me to achieve my goal resulting in not performing well
in my interview leading to less chances of me being recruited. Another disadvantage of a development
plan is that it may be biased or unrealistic. This may not allow me to focus on improving my weaknesses
therefore resulting in me still having weaknesses during my next interview leading to not presenting
myself as a good candidate for the job position.
Knowing my strengths and weaknesses as an interviewee, would allow me to create a development
strategy that would help me focus on my specific development needs 4. This will enable me to have an
opportunity to improve my skills and be well prepared for my career interview. This will allow me to
build a self development plan which will include goals and target dates before my next interview. Being
able to achieve this before my next interview will make me well prepared therefore having an effective
recruitment process. Setting target dates would motivate me and allow me to focus on particular areas
for improvement such as improving my time management skills by practicing my communication skills
and speaking at a steady pace. This is important as every employee is required to have good
communication skills when working at Tesco or at any other company. Moreover, this will enhance my
CV and cover letter proving that I am a suitable candidate for the particular job role. Furthermore, I will
be able to put these skills into practice in my next interview showing my interviewer that I have the
ability to learn and adapt to the working environment.
