Current Drug Management of Congestive Heart Failure
Heart failure is a common condition of the heart that is a complex clinical syndrome resulting from a structural or functional cardiac disorder in which the ventricle cannot adequately fill or eject blood. Heart failure is categorized as an end-stage heart condition that results from or is worsened by other chronic conditions. Heart failure has a major impact in the United States as well as globally regarding mortality, hospitalizations, and economics. Currently, there is no cure for heart failure; however, appropriate long-term management of guideline-directed therapy involving self-care and nonpharmacological and pharmacological management has improved morbidity and mortality.
