BOOK REVIEW: THINK AND GROW RICH Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill is a motivational book that explores the ways in which a change of mindset creates a definite plan of achieving goals. In chapt er 2, the author explores the topic of desire and he explores the topic through Mr. Edwin C Barnes, desire of burning bridges to move forward with life. Mr. Barnes worked for Mr. Edison and all this time, he considered himself a partner at his company. He has already established a dream and would push through to achieve it. He also knew that if his Edison did not make a partner, he would quit and find a job elsewhere. The author shows that to acquire something, wishing is not enough. One has to create a definite plan and ways in which they can acquire wealth, just like Barnes. Through the example of the great Chicago fire, the man that was left behind to build back the store had a burning desire to recreate the store and he was sure that he would build it back to a successful and true to his desire he was able to accomplish that. The author shows that to achieve a set desire, one has to create a definite plan and begin at once whether you ready or not. I agree with this because once you set to start a goal, it should not take you a long time to execute the plan, rather, one should put action into a plan even though it seems impossible. The book clearly states the six ways in which desires can be achieved. The first step the author urges people to be definite with their desire. I believe that being clear with what one wants pushed them to work hard to achieve their desire because they know what they are aiming at. Second step is identification of what one is able to give in return of achieving their desire, and this can be more time into a craft or resources. Once that is done one should set time frames when they expect their desires to be fulfilled. I think that this is important because it keeps someone on their toes because they have specific time that they wish to have their dreams accomplished. Have a plan is the fourth step, and it is true that having a plan gives someone direction on how they will go about in working on their desire. The fifth step is writing down the plan, and this is equivalent to having a vision board. By having a vision, one is able to see the things they desire and all their energy is focused on achieving their desire because they are consciously reminded of the things they desire. Lastly, once you have drafted the desire, it is important to read it loud and this creates a consciousness in your mind of what you are working towards. The book creates a good motivational journey for people that seem to be stuck in a point of wanting to achieve things they desire but they do not know how. I believe that when people apply these principles in their lives, they will be determined to push for more and this will them achieve their desires. Show Less
