PSY U10 A01 One Way ANOVA
PSY U10 A01 One Way ANOVA ONE-WAY ANOVA Data Analysis and Application (DAA) In the following paper a one-way ANOVA will be explored using the data analysis and its application. Within the paper, the mean scores for quiz 3 and each section 1 through 3. During this analysis, there will be a research question that will be raised that will use the data set to answer. In order to figure out the answer to the research question there needs to be a null hypothesis and an alternative hypothesis. Each will supply an analysis displaying why the null hypothesis should be accepted or rejected in approval of the alternative hypothesis. Data File Description For this analysis of the one-way ANOVA, the quiz 3 mean scores are in comparison with the 33 students in section 1, the 39 students in section 2 and, the 33 students in section 3. The variables used in this analysis is the section and quiz3. The independent variable is section and the dependent variable is quiz3. In a one-way ANOVA, the independent variable is a nominal scale of measurement; along with the section which is nominal. Quiz3 however, is an interval scale of measurement. N equals 105 and this is the sample size for this analysis. Testing Assumptions When looking at assumption 1 it is presumed that the dependent variable will be normally distributed. When looking at the histogram below or by calculating the skewness and kurtosis, this assumption can be determined if it is true or not. 2 ONE-WAY ANOVA Upon investigation of the above visual interpretation appears that there is a negatively skewed distribution; this is evident by the tail on the left side. There does not seem to be a plateau and there also is no sharp peak in this visual interpretation. Therefore, it appears to have a normal kurtosis.
