HUM 100-8-4-1 Project 2: Short Answer Responses About Human Expression

1. Explain why you believe humans have a need to express themselves through created artifacts. I trust that people from all walks of life have a desire to creatively express themselves through artifacts. I believe this because history has shown that it has helped them connect with other humans and the world. When first studying my artifact, I found that it was created to be a miracle for God as payment for the miracle of healing of a loved one. The artist though commissioned used different pieces of clocks, wood, and iron to create a walking and praying automaton. As discussed throughout the course humans express themselves through artifacts to share ideas with others. In the case of the Clockwork Prayer, this religious relic showed people the importance of prayer and belief in divine intervention. During this course, many news stories and resources listed reasons for the creation of artifacts. Some were because of religion and beliefs as is the case of my chosen artifact
