DECISIONS – resolutions to make up your mind about a choice after considering different options – you need to do
research into the decision and then take action on that decision – decisions based on your strengths, weaknesses,
COMMITMENT – promise to do something – to work and not give up
JOB/COURSE APLLICATION FOR HIGHER OR ADDITIONAL EDUCATION INSTITUTE
JOB APPLICATION
- Don’t be forced – should not be somebody else’s decision
- You have gathered as much information as possible on various options
- You have researched jobs in detail so that you know what qualifications are needed
APPLICATION HINTS
• Write a cover letter- keep it short and give an overview or summary of your abilities and qualifications
• Make sure you have all the information you need – such as your CV and letters of reference before you start
filling in the application
• Make your application easy to read – don’t use fancy fonts or colours – don’t type in all caps – It must be
neat
• Read the job advert carefully so that you don’t ask questions that were already answered in the advert
APPLICATION FOR HIGHER EDUCATION
- See what courses are available – based on your skills and interests - Consider distance and fees
- Does the institution have a good reputation – value for money
1) AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS
→ Bursary – money in exchange for a bursary – work after to pay off
→ Scholarship – completely paid off without having to pay it back
→ Student loan – loan from bank – parents sign as surety – high interest rates
→ Learnerships – bursary but works to pay it off while studying
2) COMPLETE FORMS
→ Fill in all needed forms accurately and clearly
3) ACCOMODATION AND TRAVEL
→ Consider where you will stay and what advantages and disadvantages of each option are
