LADWP Interview 2026 Expert
Verifed Ace the Test

Briefly explain how your background, experience, education have

prepared you for this position. - ANSWER ✔✔Good morning (Slight

Pause), I'm currently a full-time student graduating this spring with a

bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Prior to attending Cal State

LA, I served 5 years in the United States Navy as a weapon system

technician on a nuclear submarine stationed in Guam. My

responsibilities included the operation, maintenance, and

troubleshooting of crucial electrical and mechanical weapons system

interfaces, planning and coordination of key ship operations, and

, completion of ship safety evaluations. Through my experiences I gained

important skills such as attention to detail, the ability to work under

pressure to meet deadlines, and the importance of teamwork. As I

promoted I earned the title of Lead Technician for a division of 10

personnel and finished my naval career as a Second Class Petty Officer.

My responsibilities as a technician is what generated my interest in

Electrical Engineering. After completing my tour I decided to return home

to earn my engineering degree and gain practical engineering work

experience. For the past year, I've had the opportunity to work as a

Student Engineer for the Development and Standards group at Los

Angeles Department of Water and Power. During my experience, I've

completed various assignments that include quality assurance on

material evaluations, the creation department standard drawings, and

the implementation of work flow processes to revise the Underground

Construction Standards book. Through my experiences at LADWP, I was

able to enhance my communication skills and understand engineering

work flow processes and work culture in a professional engineering

setting. I I believe that the skills I earned as a sailor in the United States

Navy, a full-time Electrical Engineering student, and a Student Engineer

have adequately prepared me for a position as an electrica
