Self-reflection: Debrief
Congratulations on completing the OMS VR simulation!
After completing the scenario, please take a moment to reflect and write down your
thoughts. Questions 1 to 4 are the same questions you’ll be asked by the program after
scenario completion. These should be completed prior to reviewing system feedback.
Questions 5 and 6 should be completed after you’ve reviewed the system-specific
feedback (checkmarks and X’s).
Once this self-reflection activity is complete, submit the saved and completed
document as instructed by your instructor for review.
Name: Kristyn Russell
Scenario: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus with Acute Severe Gestational Hypertension
Date: 1/21/2025
1. How did that feel? e.g. stressful, good, frustrating, energizing, exciting, etc.
I felt an assortment of emotions that seemed to be caused from not being familiar with this sort
of situation as well as not knowing exactly what I was supposed to be doing. At times I was
stressed out due to not knowing what some specific terms and words were. I felt like I was kind
of just stumbling around trying to decipher what I was supposed to be doing. It pushed me to
familiarize myself with terms I did not know. I was also excited when I carried out certain
interventions to help the patient as well as having great communication with the patient as well
as with the husband too. This reassures me that I would know what to do when I am a nurse as
well as also able to be resourceful if I do not know something to be able to research and
explore what it is I am unfamiliar with. It is exciting to be taking care of a real patient setting but
in a very safe way.
2. Talk about three things that went well. Why did they go well?
