-Have the patient lay flat, with the palm of hand palpating the Apex, left
sternal border, and the base feeling for pulsations
-Normal-single outward impulse (contraction of the Left ventricle)
-Abnormal- double impulse, Left lateral displacement, Heaves, Lifts
