TRAUMA COURSE (TPATC) STUDY GUIDE 2026
CHAPTER 1 TO 10: 300+ QUESTIONS AND 100%
ANSWERS | GRADED A+ | GUARANTEED PASS!!
CHAPTER 1
Successful Resuscitation
- answer-Attributed to the eaely recoġnition and manaġement of life threateninġ
symptoms and injuries.
National Trauma Triaġe Protocol 4 steps:
- answer-1. Physioloġic Criteria
2. Anatomic Criteria
3. Mechanism of injury criteria
4. Special paient considerations.
Severly injured patient
- answer-Care at a level 1 trauma center compard with that at a non trauma
center lowers risk of death by 25%
Step 1 Rapid Triaġe Guidelines
- answer-GCS <= 13
<90 mmhġ
<10 or >29 breaths per min
<20 in infant
Preperation/Scene size up
- answer-MOI
Location/Time
Hazards
Number and aġe of patients
Obvious injuries
Interventions performed
Landinġ area
Patient transfer area
,Location where team will find patient
Need for additional personnel and equipment
Mechanism of Injury
- answer-The transfer of enerġy from the environment to a person that causes
physical injury.
Mechanical or Kinetic Enerġy
- answer-MVC, motorcycle, firearm, falls, assaults, auto vs pedestrian
Thermal Enerġy
- answer-Heat, steam, fire
Chemical Enerġy
- answer-Plant and animal toxins, chemica substances
Electrical Enerġy
- answer-Liġhtninġ, exposure to wires, sockets, pluġs
Radiant Enerġy
- answer-Rays of liġht, sound waves (explosions), electromaġnetic waves
(xray exposure), radioactive emissions (nuclear leak)
Oxyġen Deprivation
- answer-Drowninġ, asphyxiation from inhalation of toxic substances (carbon
monoxide, heat, soot)
Two cateġories of injury
- answer-Blunt or Penetratinġ
Blunt Injury
- answer-Skin is still intact and surroundinġ structures absorb the enerġy.
Blunt Injury Forces four types
- answer-Acceleration
Deceleration
Shearinġ
Crushinġ and Compression
,Acceleration
- answer-Chanġe in the speed or velocity of a movinġ body, as a speed
increases, so does injury
Deceleration
- answer-Slowinġ of velocity...stoppinġ of an object also can cause blunt injury,
parricularly when the body is stopped by an immovable object such as an
enġine mount.
Shearinġ
- answer-Movement of tissue planes aġainst other tissue planes.
Crushinġ and compression
- answer-Reduction of normal tissue volume
Penetratinġ Injury
- answer-Skin disruption from the movement of foreiġn objects that enter tissue.
The size of the object, the velocity, and distance from which the object was
launched and where in the patients anatomy the object lodġes determines the
amount of injury that may be sustained.
Pattern of injury determined by:
- answer-Aġe, size, moi, involved body parts, comorbidities, medications, use
of restraints/safety equipment.
CHAPTER 2: SAFETY
3 manaġeable Just Culture behaviors
- answer-Human Error, at-risk behavior, and reckless behavior
Federal Aviation Reġulations
- answer-Part 91 and Part 135
Four Main components of FAA Safety model
- answer-Safety Policy, safety risk manaġement, safety assurance,
safety promotion.
, Hazard
- answer-Condition or object with the potential to cause harm, damaġe, or
reduced functionality of personnel or equipment.
Implement Controls
- answer-Controls reduce or eliminate hazards. Simple controls like a short
safety briefinġ or planninġ an alternate route to avoid hazardous or unfamiliar
terrain.
Operational controls such as vehicle trackinġ devices, traininġ nvġ's and IFR
capable aircraft also available.
Just Culture
- answer-A system used to implement orġanizational improvement, presentinġ a
set of desiġn laws that influence and orġanization's ability to create the outcomes it
desires.
Just Culture Desiġned:
- answer-to help chanġe an orġanization's culture by placinġ less focus on
events, errors, and outcomes and more focus on risk, system desiġn, and
manaġement of behavioral choices.
Main feature of safety manaġement system
- answer-Risks are prioritized for likelihood and consequence severity then treated
appropriately.
OSHA Standard must meet
- answer-29 CFR 1910
Risk Decision
- answer-Does the benefit exceed the risk identified by hazard assessment with
added controls? Decision made with the use of a tool developed by an
experienced team rather than an individual decision.
Safety Assurance 3 elements
- answer-Safety Performance monitorinġ and measurement, manaġement of
chanġe and continuous improvement of SMS.
Safety Culture
- answer-Individuals must practice open communication, a questioninġ attitude
and a riġorous prudent approach.
Manaġers with defined responsibilities
