Onset
Gradual onset approximately 6 months ago at the start of the current school year.
Mother denies any sudden change or acute event.
Location
Symptoms are primarily academic (classroom performance) but mother now notices
similar inattentiveness at home with homework and chores.

Symptoms present daily during school hours and during homework time (approximately
3-4 hours after school). Episodes of inattentiveness last minutes to hours depending on
task demands.
Character
Mother describes: "She seems to be daydreaming. I can call her name and she doesn't
respond right away. Her teacher says she makes 'careless mistakes' on tests even though
she knows the material when asked directly."
