Lifestyle factors that can affect an individual’s health
Physical activity:
- Improves your brain function and memory.
- Maintain a good balance, strength, healthy bones and joints.
- Boosts energy level.
- Improves sleep quality.
- Reduces symptoms of anxiety and depression.
- Increases an overall life-span.
- Decreases the risk of getting a cancer or other chronic diseases.
- Manages healthy body weight.
- Improves lungs capacity.
Physical activity guidelines for adults aged 19 to 64 (suitable for disabled people & pregnant woman)
Adults:
Adults should aim to be active everyday, at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity or 75
minutes of vigorous intensity activity a week. Adults should not spend too much time sitting or lying
down for long periods, and its recommended for them to do stretching at least 2 times a week to keep
muscles and joints healthy.
Examples of moderate intensity activities:
- hiking
- water aerobics
- brisk walking
- dancing
