The Civil Legal Advice scheme (CLA) operated

under the Legal Aid for Civil funding. - Funding only available to limited inc
- Funding not available for small claim
Disposable capital
Own funding if Capital is over £8000
Means tested
Government funding if Capital below £8000
- Based on a level of amount of income and capital
- Can be in Public interest
- There is no cost to the applicant wanting advice and funding
- Will automatically be granted to vulnerable users such as children/mentally ill.
Advantages
- Solicitor of choice, will represent in court.
CLA can provide funding help with solicitor, at court and legal rep
- Funding available that would not be available from Citizen’s Advice Bureaux
- Stress is reduced due to help in court.
