NR 531 Week 3 Discussion: Shared Governance and the Magnet Model
Nursing care models blend professional behaviors and clinical leadership to form a
foundation that allows for mutual goal setting as well as facilitates the prioritization of patient
care by the entire healthcare team. The institution where I currently work recently transitioned
to a new nursing model of care. In accordance with our shared governance structure, it was
developed by the frontline nurses, and is comprised of three simple themes- Care, Innovate and
Lead and has the patient at the center. The use of such structures promotes autonomous
