Analysis of Evidence-Based Practice: Addressing Recurrent Falls and in an Older
Immigrant with Financial Problems and Ongoing Homelessness
The patient's persistent falls and breathing issues require further in-depth diagnostic
assessments. Ensuring that the patient and his daughter fully recognize the diagnosis and
treatment options is necessary while also bearing in mind the language discrepancy while also
considering the patient's narrow health knowledge. Due to their lack of access to fall prevention
and physical therapy sessions, it may cause large consequences. (Portney, 2020).
Solution:
To help the 85-year-old man, first, use language help or to speak with him with better
communication. Then, you would need to thoughtfully consider why he may having trouble
breathing and falling a lot. Due to the fact that he does not have a reliable home and does not
have a lot of his basic needs met then you should work with social services to find him a place to
stay, food, and healthcare. (Rui Nunes, 2022). Then, you would teach him and his daughter about
good health in a way they can understand and focus on preventing problems. (Rui Nunes, 2022).
Find help from local groups to keep supporting them in the long run. This plan affects many
people, like healthcare workers, the daughter, and the community. Healthcare workers will need
more training and help with languages. The daughter might understand the health problems
better but could find it hard to get help. The community will be healthier overall but there may be
more pressure on local resources if they can't support vulnerable people well. Everyone needs to
, work together to help the homeless immigrant man get better. (Javanparast, S., Naqvi, S. K. A.,
& Mwanri, L., 2020)
Step 1: PICO Question:
- Population Group =P: The patient is elderly individuals specifically ones such as the
85-year-old male who is facing recurring falls.
- Intervention =I: The intervention would be to make sure there is a comprehensive
health assessment, access to physical therapy and mobility aids. The access to language aid,
collaboration with social services, and patient education utilizing visual aids and simplified
language would be a plus so that he comprehends his health treatment plans better.
- Comparison= C: The comparison would be common treatment with an absence of a
multidisciplinary method with fall risk prevention, mobility aids, or physical therapy.
- Outcome=O- The outcome is desirable with better health results, less falls and better
understanding of health evidence for the patient and his daughter.
2. Gathering Evidence:
- Review of WGU Literature: Scholarly sources like works by Javanparast et al.
(2024) and Schmidt & Brown (2019), uphold the value of addressing social factors, language
barriers and collective involvements to better health results in defenseless groups of people.
