Prediction activity
Place the story title on the board. For example, “Things you didn’t know
about the United Kingdom.” Ask the students to get into pairs and discuss
what they think the text will be about. This activity will help them to see
which pair could predict the nearest to what they will read.
Reading for specific information activity
The students will read through the article and write down specific facts or
details. After finishing, the students will be asked to wad up their paper and
throw it to another student. The students will then open the paper and
express agreement or disagreement about what the other student wrote.
