Mean - Answer: The average of the numbers in a data set.
To calculate:
1. Add up all of the data
2. Divide by the number of data in the data set.
Median - Answer: The middle number in a data set when in numerical order.
To calculate:
1. Place the numbers in order
2.Cross off on either side until you find the middle number.
**If there are 2 numbers in the middle, add them together and divide by 2 in order to find
the middle of those two numbers.**
Mode - Answer: The number that appears most often in a set of numbers.
*There is not always a mode.
*Sometimes there can be more than one mode.
Range - Answer: The difference between the lowest and highest values.
Measure of Central Tendency - Answer: A measure used to describe data. The mean,
median, and mode are measures of central tendency.
Measure of Variability - Answer: A measure of how the data is different from the
average.
