follicular phase= first 14 days, follicles grow and secrete estrogen, endometri-
um hypertrophies
luteal phase= second 14 days, after ovulation, corpus luteum created and
produces progesterone prominently & still estrogen, progesterone needed to
continue proliferation of tissue/vasculature
Progesterone drops leading to atrophy/shedding of endometrium: describe the
ovarian and endometrial cycle
2. 21-35 days: what is a normal range for cycle length
3. longer: younger women tend to have (longer/shorter) cycles
4. menarche median age= 12.4 yrs
