The Spanish Empire was one of the most
powerful empires in history, reaching its
peak during the 16th and 17th centuries.
It expanded through colonization and
exploration, gaining vast territories in the
Americas, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. The
empire was known for exploiting natural
resources, spreading the Spanish
language and Catholicism, and
establishing a lucrative trade system.
However, costly wars, inflation, loss of
territories, competition with other
European powers, and resistance from
colonized peoples led to its downfall in
the 18th and 19th centuries.
