The classroom (e.g. is there enough seating, is it clean, etc.)
• The classroom is very clean and well packed. There is enough space, learners
occupy all the seats, and there are two spaces on the columns for movement.
The atmosphere (e.g. is it inviting, interesting, conducive to learning,
wellresourced or not, etc.)
• It is conducive to learning, inviting, interesting and well-resourced.
The subject
• Social science (Geography)
The teaching approach (e.g. direct instruction, interactive learning, etc.) and
how learners respond to this
• Direct instruction and interactive learning, teachers pose question to learners,
and they respond well the questions.
The expectations the teacher has of learners (how they must enter, where they
must sit, what they may or may not do, how they may participate) and how
learners respond to this
• Learners enters the class quietly and they sit and wait for the teacher.
• When a learner wants to go to outside, they request a permission from the
teacher.
• Learners raise hand when they want to ask/answer question
• Learners are not reaching some expectation of their teacher.
Time spent on task (how much of the period is used for teaching and learning)
and what learners do if there is time left
• Period is 45 minutes (5minutes on Introduction and explanation and 20minutesfor
writing activity and 5minutes for correction 5minutes for marking.
